The final sprint in two stages. The last 180 minutes that can count as Serie D, a historic achievement for Terni Fc. The only freshman in the history of Umbrian football to be potentially promoted to Serie D in the first year of Eccellenza.
“Calm down, let’s not look too far ahead, let’s focus on this first match which will be very tough”.
Kick-off at 4pm at Comunale Brin in Cairo Montenotte, province of Savona, where Cairese hosts Roberto Borrello’s team. Away goals are worth double and Terni Fc knows this well because a double draw gave Tozzi Borsoi and co the final by overcoming the Sardinian side Ossese in the semi-final.
Now however, as highlighted by the Terni Fc coach, the focus is entirely on the first leg of the semi-final. “A difficult match awaits us – underlines Borrello – because Cairese is a team built to rise to Serie D, with a strong squad. We will have to be good at starting well, without conceding anything, especially in the first minutes. Then we know that we have our weapons and we demonstrated it at the end of the match against Ossi. It’s true that you play over 180 minutes but the first 90 will be fundamental.”
Return scheduled for Sunday 16 June at Strinati, with kick-off at 4pm. On that occasion Borrello will meet again with Flavioni and Leonardi, match winner in Ossi, both stopped for a match by the sports judge. Just as in Cairese there will be no attacking midfielder Hernandez who was sent off in the second leg of the semi-final against Mapello.
Al Brin referees Burattini of Roma 1, who directed Bmg on the occasion of the cup success against Osimana, complete with a maxi disqualification for the Marche players. For Burattini another match with the Umbrians, in the championship this time, in Tavernelle-Angelana 3-0. Assistants Muca from Alessandria and Martino from Cassino.
