Forlì has decided: here is the new coach. Goodbye to Antonioli, Miramari arrives

The die is cast. Alessandro Miramari is the new coach of Forlì. Born in Bologna on 8 June 1970, he celebrates his 54th birthday today with the contract that brings him to the Morgagni bench. A month or so of wavering negotiations led the red and white club to choose the coach who will replace Mauro Antonioli, for whom the good season which ended with the playoffs narrowly escaping and the esteem of the fans were not enough to confirm him.

In addition to that of Antonioli, who yesterday the Viale Roma club thanked in a note “for the enthusiasm and professionalism demonstrated”, the candidatures of Stefano Protti and Stefano Cassani, the latter having landed at Lentigione, fell through. The white smoke for Miramari arrived on Thursday afternoon at the end of the coach’s meeting with the red and white management, who yesterday made the strategic decision official. Forlì overcame the competition from Desenzano, also in the fourth series, in a sprint, but the attention of Fiorenzuola in series C, Sant’Angelo in series D and the ambitious Udine club Cjarlins were also focused on the Bolognese coach Muzane, just relegated to Excellence.

The director of the red and white technical area, Cristiano Protti, is satisfied with the positive conclusion of the negotiation: “We have brought on the Forlì bench a coach who can give us something more with the aim of aiming very high. A coach who, in recent years, has demonstrated an innovative idea of football which we think will be able to give the team the right stimuli.”

A life as a goalkeeper, defending the goal of various amateur football teams, including Dovadola for a season, and then the five-a-side football season of Futsal Bologna, Alessandro Miramari began his career on the bench with ‘soccer’, leading the quintet of the under 15s of the Bologna team until they achieved the title of Italian category champion in June 2019.

Subsequently, Miramari led Corticella, a Bolognese club controlled by the Bonfiglioli family, for three seasons, opening with final success, precisely at the first attempt, in Eccellenza in 2021-22. The results in Serie D with the Emilian Biancazzurri were also very good: first even the victory last year in the playoff final against Carpi, beaten at home 0-2, then this year the one lost against Ravenna (2-1) at the end of another season above all expectations. In these two championships the Bolognese team, a special one not to be underestimated, beat Forlì in all four matches, practically deciding their exclusion from the playoffs.

Fond of the 4-2-3-1 scheme, it is very likely that the new Forlì coach intends to bring some of the elements he had at his disposal in Corticella. The company will present the new coach at the end of the month.
