Between 2018 and 2023, 119 appearances with the Catania shirt. A sign of how important Tommaso Silvestri has been in the Catania context over the years. In the recent season he returned to Etna after the positive experience at Modena, however only playing on 14 occasions, 2 of which in the Italian C Cup with performances that were not always up to par.
Last September he played what, to date, represents his last match with the Catania shirt, coinciding with the narrow defeat in Messina. The goal that decided the match came precisely from a gross naivety committed by the Venetian defender born in 1991. He was later forced to remain in the pits due to physical problems. Season over and exclusion from the list, but Silvestri remained close to the team, encouraging and supporting his teammates throughout the season. “As soon as the opportunity arose to return to Catania I didn’t think twice, you all know what this place, this square, these colors mean to me. I didn’t imagine coming back, but I probably dreamed of it because what I gave in my first experience in Catania was something important, perhaps the most important experience on a footballing and human level for me. A player who wants to do this job doesn’t look at the category when Catania calls”, Silvestri said after the return to Sicily was realized. Now it’s time for him too to evaluate the future. The player’s will is clearly to stay and redeem a particular year. It is up to the rossozzurri club to decide whether to trust him next season or focus on other profiles and dissolve the bond with Silvestri.
