The illicit reimbursements that were discovered by the officials of the Customs and Monopolies Agency of the Territorial Operational Section of Aprilia as part of the control and monitoring of the declarations of those entitled to the tax relief in the road haulage sector.
The checks and controls have in fact made it possible to ascertain, in the first four months of this year, an illicit use of reimbursements by way of excise duties amounting to approximately 500 thousand euros to which are added a further 260 thousand euros of reimbursements advanced compared to the effective date fruition.
The irregularities were carried out by companies in the province of Latina operating in the road haulage sector, and administrative sanctions were imposed against them for an amount equal to 521,601 thousand euros.
“The fraudulent activities – it is explained in a note – were intercepted through an analysis conducted on some economic operators operating in the sector and with the aid of the databases available to the Customs and Monopolies Agency, which made it possible to trace a series of suspicious activities concluded with the observation of excise duty reimbursements used illicitly, on the basis of the tax relief recognized by law for diesel used for road transport”.
