Con Dragon Ball Akira Toriyama has created a fantastic universe, full of magic, spiritual powers, transformations, alien races that are both powerful and funny, and has given unique aspects to many of the characters that have become iconic. But his artistic talent is also found in the creation of original designs for cars and other types of vehicles.
The master seems to have always had an interest in imagining cars, and since the first tables of his main work, when Bulma arrives at Goku’s property, he has shown off his engineering creativitydrawing motorcycles, cars, airplanes, with his detailed style and often proposing proportions that managed to arouse hilarity at first glance.
An indisputable talent, which had already been seen in Dr. Slump and Arale, and which will also return in Sand Land – a work that has recently received an animated transposition and a film – and which Akira Toriyama has also shown in the promotional illustration of the 1990 Formula One Japanese Grand Prix. As you can see at the bottom of the page, Goku was depicted as the driver of a McLaren MP4/6 with a Honda RA121EV12 engine. Despite Toriyama relied solely on photographs to recreate the car’s designthe result is incredible and very convincing.
