European elections, here are the lists (and the Calabrian candidates) of the Southern constituency

Only one outgoing candidate re-nominated and 32 Calabrians in total running, not all of whom have a real chance of making it. The race for the European elections on 8 and 9 June is in the final rush: the word really goes to the polls, the outcome of which will be known already on Sunday night.
There are 3 outgoing European parliamentarians elected in Calabria: Laura Ferrara (M5S) who is not standing for re-election due to the double mandate rule that applies within the Five Star Movement; Denis Nesci, exponent of Fratelli d’Italia, and Vincenzo Sofo, elected with the League and then moved to FdI during the current legislature. Of these, only Nesci is back on the field. And the politician from Reggio has a good chance of winning a new pass for Brussels also because the Melonians could be the leading party in the southern constituency. Luciana De Francesco, current regional councilor of FdI, also harbors ambitions of success, who could now be promoted due to a “risk” favorable to her; in fact, if, as is very likely, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni renounces her seat, it is possible that De Francesco – who can leverage the consensus of the entire Calabrian party and some alliances stipulated in other territories – could obtain promotion to the EU Parliament .
Everyone in Forza Italia is working to allow the election of Giusi Princi, current vice-president of the regional council. The objective of the governor Roberto Occhiuto, the regional coordinator Francesco Cannizzaro and the other top Italian leaders is in fact to achieve the best percentage in the country for the party here. The Campania consensus of a big player (also outgoing) of the caliber of Fulvio Martusciello could be channeled to Princi – thanks to a not so secret agreement.
In the League, however, it will be a fight until the last vote to improve the performance obtained in 2019 in these latitudes. Above all, the Cosenza deputy Simona Loizzo and the Catanzaro president of the regional council, Filippo Mancuso, hope for this; the various colonels of the party will try to measure their strengths on their figures in what appears to be a sort of early congress.
As for the centrists, hypothesizing the election of a Calabrian representative appears very complex, at least according to the polls and the electoral law in force: the seats will be distributed proportionally only among the lists capable of exceeding 4% of the votes on a national scale.
In the Democratic Party these problems do not exist but it seems difficult to imagine a success for the two Calabrians in the field: the former “Sardina” Jasmine Cristallo and the former regional councilor Luigi Tassone, who are also placed further back on the list.
Much more concrete, on the contrary, is the possibility of election in Europe of Pasquale Tridico, leader of the 5 Star Movement, former president of the INPS and originally from Cosenza. The leader Giuseppe Conte believes a lot in this figure: it is no coincidence that Tridico was one of the first names made official by the movement for the electoral round in the next few days.
Finally, on the left, Mimmo Lucano dreams of redemption after years of judicial and media pillory. The former mayor of Riace is running at the top of the list with the Green-Left Alliance party, which has a good chance of getting a seat in the Brussels Parliament if it exceeds the threshold. Lower hopes, however, for Maria Pia Funaro, former deputy mayor of Cosenza who left the Democratic Party and now takes more radical positions on the subject of civil rights and environmental protection.
