Many citizens have signed up for free specialist visits

This morning, many people showed up at the Sant’Antonio-Opera Don Orione Sanctuary, directed by Don Graziano Bonfitto, to access the free visits of the Constantinian Medical Days. Like every year, volunteer specialists offered free consultancy and checks relating to the branches of angiology, cardiology, dermatology, hematology, endocrinology-diabetology, clinical nutrition, hypertension nephrology, prevention oncology, otolaryngology-audiometry, pneumology, rheumatology, pain therapy, psychiatry and psychology.

The Constantinian Medical Days enjoy the spiritual support of some priests and make use of the resources made available by the Italian Red Cross-Committee of Reggio Calabria, by the Association Volunteers Hospitallers Onlus, by the Misericordie and by the Delegation of Calabria of the Constantinian Order, led by the interim Delegate, the Marquis Don Pierluigi Sanfelice.

“We are in the fourth edition and today there are 12 specialists present, very well-known doctors in the area – begins the Doctor Emanuele Scarlata -. Due to waiting lists, this year, the presence of poor patients who cannot wait a long time to have a consultation with a specialist has increased significantly. I thank all the colleagues who presented themselves this morning carrying out a diagnostic of a certain level and I can proudly say that the city responded thanks also to the help of the Marquis Don Pierluigi Sanfelice di Bagnoli, Knight Grand Cross of Justice, Lieutenant for the Peninsular Southern Italy of the Royal Commission for Italy”.

And it is the Marquis himself who reiterates that “unfortunately, there are problems and to be able to make a visit, you have to wait increasingly longer times. We therefore decided to reach out to the population, especially the less well-off, to help them have free and quick access to a series of activities in the medical field ranging from cardiology to dermatology and other medical activities. The Sacred Military Constantinian Order is sacred and military, naturally its sacredness lies precisely in being able to reach out to our neighbors who are in difficulty and here, the military part serves to be even closer to the population. We were born as soldiers almost 1500 years ago and, today, we are soldiers without weapons: we are always turned towards our neighbors.”

Satisfied with the successful and well-attended event which also saw the precious contribution of many volunteers, the Knight Grand Cross of Justice Sanfelice remember that “among our future objectives is to expand all our activities to Reggio Calabria. We started in the medical field but we will move on to the food sector and everything necessary to help those who are not well.”

The spiritual support was coordinated by Don Giovanni Gattuso, Chaplain of Merit, in collaboration with Don Graziano Bonfitto, Don Domenico Foti and Don Giovanni Zappalà.
