ANCONA – In Ancona the first yellow badge of the season for heat. The first heat wave of the summer of 2024 is making its grip felt in the Marche and the ministry of health, in the bulletin for tomorrow, Sunday 9 June, predicts level 1, the so-called pre-alert of the health and social services.
Today the hottest city is Macerata with 34 degrees (regional civil protection data), 33 degrees in Ascoli Piceno and 32 in Fabriano and Montefano, 31 degrees in Osimo. Several cities are recording 30 degrees today, among these are Ancona, Pesaro, Fermo, Camerino and Senigallia.
Temperatures pushed up by the African anticyclone which, however, could let go from Monday the 10th. In the meantime, however, the heat is pushing many to flock to the beaches, thanks to the good weather. «There are people – explains Luca Paolillo, of the Conero Riviera Lifeguards Association – certainly if there hadn’t been elections maybe there would have been even more attendance, but we are satisfied». The vote for the European and local elections, together with the bad weather in the north of the country, is slowing down tourism from the north a bit.
The first tourists also arrived in the sun, under the umbrellas: «They come mainly from Umbria and Emilia Romagna – says Paolillo – then there are many people from the hinterland and neighboring towns and those who own their own houses». Finally, Paolillo highlights that “the number of tourists from Emilia Romagna is growing” who arrive for a ‘hit and run’ holiday and are struck by “the beauty of the landscape and the crystal clear sea”.
