On Tuesday June 11 will be held at 9:00 am at the Civic Gallery on III Regional Congress of the Basilicata Middle School Students Network.
This is a fundamental moment for the Student Union to start a reflection on the struggles to be carried out within schools and territories and the projects to be implemented to strengthen student representation in our Region and expand strong social alliances between the student body, the union and the world of associations.
Teresa D’Onofrio of the RdSM Basilicata declares:
“The congress is a culmination of three years of mobilisations, assemblies and the political and material construction of a alternative political proposal on the student level.
The organization emerged from the lockdown period stronger and expanded its activities throughout the regional territory, recording a constant increase in participation.
Without a doubt it is a positive signal that will be picked up by Congress to build the next page of the Student Union and strengthen student representation at all levels.”
In fact, according to the students, the task of representation is of vital importance to bring politics and participation back into schools.
Antonio Masini of RdSM Basilicata continues:
“A decisive challenge is to broaden the concept of representation, reporting claims that are generational, representing the student community as a social body, as a block capable of dialogue with the rest of society.
This year, starting from the regional elections, we tried to bring a platform that you put young people are at the center of the public debatewhich represents internal areas such as the outskirts of cities, such as all those schools that will be sized.
Let’s start from the places of knowledge to create a real alternative to the crises we are experiencing: demographic, social, environmental.”
This congress is therefore held in a phase where discussion and the ability to organize are increasingly vital, where participation can really bring about a change in everyday life.
Enrico Vaccaro of RdSM Basilicata declares:
“This congress is a central meeting to outline the practices that as an organization we implement in schools and territories.
Students are at the center of our action, their defense is our compass to continue to do a job of rooting the territories and schools.
The challenges that await us are many, on a local and national level, which is why there is a need for a vanguard of students, young girls and boys who question themselves about their condition and are committed to ensuring that it improves and that society as a whole becomes more fair and supportive.”
“There are roots that cannot be eradicated” will be the slogan of the congressa promise of struggles, but also of dreams that have been carried forward with passion every day in schools and in the sections of the Network for 15 years throughout the regional territory.
Angela Bianco of RdSM Basilicata concludes:
“We think that every student is one of those roots that, in the name of struggle, cannot be eradicated, but rather contribute to making the world more beautiful.
The years that await us are full of challenges and complexities, but the continuous work of these years has settled and will grow over time.
The Middle School Students’ Network will be at the forefront of every battle, it will be available to defend the students it represents, because only in this way can students contribute to the construction of the alternative, of a new school in a different society.
