Umbria goes to the vote. There are sixty mayors to be elected. An army of 224 lists

Sixty mayors to be elected, for which 415,633 Umbrians will be called to vote, approximately 62% of the total eligible voters in our region. Which are over 662 thousand and who – yes – have the right to go to the polls for the European elections.

In total, however, there are 147 candidates for mayor in Umbria and 224 lists with a veritable army of aspiring councillors.

And then tomorrow evening at eleven, six small municipalities (Arrone, Costacciaro, Fossato di Vico, Ficulle, Lugnano in Teverina and Monteleone d’Orvieto) could already have a mayor: here there is in fact only one candidate and if 50 goes to the polls % + 1 of voters, the election will be automatic.

This is the most important administrative session in Umbria, given that first citizens and municipal councilors are renewed and elected in 65 percent of the municipalities (60 out of 92 in fact) and the wait is truly frantic. The most important city, needless to say, is Perugia: here 130,171 voters are called to vote, of which 62,322 are men and 67,489 women. Those entitled to it represent 37% of the total in the province of Perugia, which are 353,114 (170,821 men and 182,293 women). There are therefore 5 candidates for mayor of Perugia, 569 those who aspire to a position as city councilor (and perhaps as councillor) divided into 19 lists, for a total of 574 participants in the competition to enter Palazzo dei Priori where there is a place for the mayor, 32 for the councilors and at least 6 or 7 to be the councilor (whoever among those elected will be appointed to the council, in fact, will have to resign from the position of councilor and his place will be taken by the first candidate among those who do not they did it.

Here then are the five: Vittoria Ferdinandi, centre-left, civici and Cinquestelle, supported by Perugia Public Health, Movimento 5 Stelle, Anima Perugia, Orchestra per la Vittoria, Alleanza Verdi Sinistra, Democratic Party, Pensa Perugia (seven lists). Then Margherita Scoccia (centre-right and civic) who has 8 lists in tow: Progetto Perugia, Lega, Fare Perugia con Romizi – Forza Italia, Perugia Civica, Fratelli d’Italia, Futuro Giovani, Udc-Unione di Centro, PerugiaAmica. The third is the former Perugia footballer Davide Baiocco who presented two lists in support: Forza Perugia and Alternativa Riformista – Italexit. Then Leonardo Caponi who is supported by the PCI-Perugia list against war and neoliberalism. And finally Massimo Monni (central-socialist area-Italia viva) who has a list in support, Perugia Merita.

Returning to the numbers, let us remember that in Foligno there are 44,687 voters, in Gubbio 27,255, Orvieto with 19,689, then there is Bastia with 17,035, Marsciano 14,229 and Castiglione del Lago (12,033): these 6 (plus Perugia 7) all have over 15 thousand residents and therefore affected by potential runoffs. The other ‘large’ territories are Gualdo Tadino (12,266 eligible residents) and Magione (11,991), but they ended up below the threshold of 15 thousand residents. Here are the 53 municipalities under 15 thousand inhabitants called to vote: Campello sul Clitunno, Castel Ritaldi, Cerreto di Spoleto, Citerna, Città della Pieve, Collazzone, Costacciaro, Fossato di Vico, Fratta Todina, Giano dell’Umbria, Gualdo Cattaneo, Gualdo Tadino, Lisciano Niccone, Magione, Massa Martana, Monte Castello di Vibio, Montefalco, Montone, Norcia, Paciano, Panicale, Piegaro Pietralunga, Preci, San Giustino, Sant’Anatolia di Narco, Scheggia and Pascelupo, Sellano, Sigillo, Spello, Torgiano, Tuoro sul Trasimeno, Vallo di Nera, Acquasparta, Allerona, Alviano, Arrone, Baschi, Castel Viscardo, Fabro, Ficulle, Guardea, Lugnano in Teverina, Montecchio, Montefranco, Montegabbione, Monteleone d’Or vieto, Penna in Teverina, Polino , Porano, San Gemini, San Venanzo, Stroncone.
