Elections 8-9 June 2024: what you need to vote

Please remember that, on the occasion of the vote on 8 and 9 June, the voter must have the electoral card and an identity document.

At the polls

Identification can take place by presenting an identity card or another identification document issued by a Public Administration as long as it has a photograph (such as a passport, driving licence, nautical licence, pension booklet, plant management licence). thermal tests, weapons licence, receipt of the request for issuing CIE – Electronic Identity Card, identification cards issued by the National Union of Officers on Leave of Italy provided they have a photograph and validated by a military command, identification cards issued by professional orders provided equipped with a photograph).
Identity cards and other identification documents issued by the Public Administration may be presented, even if expired, as long as they are regular in every other respect and ensure the identification of the voter.

In the absence of a suitable document, identification can take place through attestation from one of the members of the polling station who knows the voter personally.
In the absence of a suitable document and if none of the members of the polling station are able to ascertain the identity of the voter, the identification can take place through certification from another voter of the Municipality. The latter voter must be personally known by one of the members of the polling station or must have been admitted to vote on the basis of a regular identification document issued by a Public Administration.
