Brescia. The Factory of the Future will also reopen in 2024, until the end of the year. In particular, the installation – created by Confindustria Brescia at the Water Park for the year of Bergamo Brescia Italian Capital of Culture 2023 – will host events and a photographic installation of the masterclass “The intelligent factory”, curated by the Musil Foundation.
The details were illustrated on Friday in a press conference, attended by Laura Castelletti, mayor of Brescia, Paolo Streparava, vice president of Confindustria Brescia and delegate to Bergamo Brescia Italian Capital of Italian Culture 2023, Marco Caffi, president of AmbienteParco, and René Capovin , Director of the MUSIL Foundation.

The structure, with a size of approximately 200 m2, was built in the first months of 2023 by the Brescia-based company Wood Beton – designed by the ARW studio and with the contribution, for digital technologies, of InnexHUB – in the name of eco-sustainability, with laminated wood portals for the load-bearing structure, x-lam panels for the floor and beams load-bearing and in honeycomb polycarbonate for the cladding. The material used is totally sustainable, recycled and recyclable.
Inside the pavilion the projects of 30 companies from Brescia were described, selected through the ideas competition launched in September 2022 by Confindustria Brescia, and divided into 5 thematic categories: Corporate culture (Intelco Italia Informatica, Brawo, Gnutti Carlo, Fleming Tecna, Saccheria Franceschetti, GI Group), Research and innovation (Antares Vision, Matchplat, Feralpi Group, Dega e Grazioli, Fabbrica d’Armi Pietro Beretta, Infinity ID), Sustainability (Scao Informatica, Gruppo AB, Marfran, Montecolino, Mori 2A, Rubinetterie Bresciane Bonomi), Welfare (Gefran, El.Com, OMB Saleri, Regesta, VGV, Saluber) and Sinergia business-territory (Fedabo, Fonderie Ariotti, BBS, AQM, Ori Martin, Olimpia Splendid).

There were 3,500 visitors who physically went to see the exhibition from 27 May to 20 December 2023: 55 completed, 2,000 participants in the events/conferences, 5 schools visiting the exhibition: primary, secondary and universities – also coming from other regions – a foreign delegation of entrepreneurs from New York; 5,800 user accesses to the «BresciaVerse» metaverse (from July to October 2023), coming in particular from Italy and followed by Australia, USA, France, Germany, South Korea, Switzerland, Finland, United Kingdom, China and others.
The total number of visitors, both physical and virtual, was 11 thousand.

«I am happy to note that La Fabbrica del Futuro, an innovative project created by Confindustria Brescia for the year of Bergamo Brescia Italian Capital of Culture 2023 and which was particularly successful among the public, has not remained an event that sold out last year but the path undertaken will also continue for 2024 – he comments Laura Castelletti, mayor of Brescia –. In this modern structure there will be space for the choral story about our future: exhibitions and meetings dedicated to the world of work and business culture, for young people and with young people. A cutting-edge space in which to share projects and ideas for an increasingly modern Brescia, leader in innovation and, above all, sustainable. I thank Confindustria for donating to BgBs2023 a valuable project capable of renewing itself and continuing over time for the benefit of everyone.”

During 2024, the Factory of the Future will reopen as a space dedicated to events. The project actions will be developed, in particular, in collaboration with AmbienteParco, a science center dedicated to environmental sustainability and the circular economy, and InnexHub, the digital innovation hub of Brescia, for aspects related to digitalisation and technological innovation, and to other stakeholders interested in the development of the indicated objectives.

Among the main objectives are to organize meetings dedicated to schools on the world of work and business, develop activities related to corporate culture with the product sectors and zones of Confindustria Brescia, organize events and training meetings (also aimed at young people and schools) on the topics of sustainability and innovation.

«The exhibition proposed in 2023 represented an important snapshot of the Brescia production world – he adds Paolo Streparava, vice president of Confindustria Brescia and delegate to Bergamo Brescia Italian Capital of Italian Culture 2023 –. Thanks to the positive opinion of the Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the provinces of Bergamo and Brescia, we will be able to fill the Factory of the Future with contents and events – some of which we have already anticipated today – until the end of 2024. We are very satisfied with the numbers recorded by the Fabbrica in the year of the Capital, but above all to have further characterized and enhanced an important space in the center of the city, as also demonstrated by the Superintendence’s decision to allow us to extend the opening into the current year. We also invite our companies to make full use of this opportunity.”

The spaces of the Factory will also be enriched by a photographic exhibition curated by the MUSIL Foundation and entitled “The intelligent factory”, with the best shots of the industrial photography masterclass of the same name directed by Luca Campigotto, an internationally renowned photographer. The photographic documentation was collected within important local companies, available to exhibit places and processes of contemporary production: Automazioni Industriali Capitanio, Cavagna Group, Eredi Gnutti Metalli, Gnutti Carlo, IMG Macchine, Ori Martin and Rubinetterie Bresciane Bonomi – Bonomi Group.
The masterclass, aimed at photographers with a specific interest in industrial architecture and landscape photography, enhanced the technological, innovative and aesthetic dimension of Industry 4.0. The initiative was coordinated by Confindustria Brescia as part of “Matrice Lavoro”, a project promoted by the MUSIL Foundation to tell the story of today’s industrial heritage and work in innovative ways. The results of the masterclass are also accessible online on the Matrice Lavoro website page: https://matricelavoro.it/fabbrica-intelligente-brescia/
