The separation between Torino and Juric is not yet official but the two will part ways soon. Having arrived in Turin in 2021 after his experience at Verona, Juric has raised Toro from the swamps of the lower area of the table but above all he has valorised several Granata players who are currently orbiting the big leagues in Serie A, one above all: Alessandro Buongiorno.

From the Bremer capital gain, with Schuurs and Buongiorno at the top

It was well known that Juric is a specialist in the defensive phase and also the figure of the fourth best defense in this championship, second in terms of number of clean sheets. Since his arrival, the Spalato coach has shaped and developed his defenders, making the Granata wall one of the most difficult to beat. The most striking example is undoubtedly that of Bremer, who when Juric arrived in July 2021 had a market value of 10 million euros (transfermarkt.it data) and was then sold in the summer of 2022 for 50 million. Another example of foresight was created with Rodriguez, who arrived at Torino together with Giampaolo, but became a top three-man defense thanks to Juric. The last two defensive gems left to Torino are Schuurs and Buongiorno. Let’s start with the Dutchman: he arrived as Bremer’s replacement with a market value of 7 million euros, after two seasons his value has grown to 25 million (+18 million) despite the long stop due to the cruciate rupture. Finally, there is the exceptional case of Buongiorno who on his debut in the Granata was worth 75 thousand euros: upon Juric’s arrival the value had grown to 2.5 million and it is above all thanks to the role that the coach was able to tailor to him that Bongio became one of the strongest defenders in the Italian and European scene with a value of 35 million euros.

Ricci-Bellanova uphill, Vlasic collapses

There are several happy notes left by Juric from a capital gains perspective: in the past there were the Lukic and Singo cases, and Bremer to be precise, who benefited from Juric’s hand to grow. In the current management, however, those who demonstrated the ability to make the most of the work requested by the Croatian coach were Samuele Ricci and Bellanova: both in fact increased their market value by 10 million (Bellanova from 5 to 15 million while Ricci from 12 to 22). The two Italians precede Ilic, who despite playing below his potential, increased his market value from 13 to 18 million. Then there are the Sanabria and Duvan Zapata cases. The Colombian has performed as a power forward this season, he has been reborn thanks to Juric but his market value has not increased due to his identity card aging year after year. For the Paraguayan, however, the case is different: this season was disappointing, but last season’s performances made his market value skyrocket: starting from 6.5 million on his debut, he reached 10 million at end of last season and then dropped to the current 7. The one who has really disappointed is Vlasic, who from an attacking midfielder/winger has been transformed into a raider and a quantity midfielder: from 22 million when he made his debut in the summer of 2022, his market value has fallen to 10 million (-12 millions).
