The wedding between the city of Casalnuovo and the family Stompanato is now on its last legs. The spark with the square never struck and after just one year – among other things lived as a protagonist in Serie D (Mister’s Real Raffaele Esposito came close to qualifying for the playoffs) – it’s already time to say goodbye. The sporting title of the Casalnuovo granata – barring sensational surprises – will be taken over by Puteolanaa historic team that played in the Eccellenza championship last season.
The farewell to Casalnuovo, from what has transpired in recent weeks, would be attributable to the onerous management costs and the impossibility of involving local businesses in the sports project. Antonio Stompanato, therefore, raises the white flag and would, in the meantime, have already closed with the Di Costanzo family of Pozzuoli. The future of Raffaele Esposito and Daniele Flammia, respectively the last coach and last sporting director of Real Casalnuovo, is currently uncertain. The two, who performed well in the last championship, are courted by several D clubs and it is not excluded that they could meet again soon for further experience. Stompanato, a young entrepreneur and president of Real Madrid, has so far chosen the path of silence.
On the other hand, however, there is great anticipation in Pozzuoli for the return to the top amateur championship. An enthusiasm that grew considerably after the publication of Puteolana 1902’s post on its Facebook page: «We’re coming back, stay tuned». At this point we are only waiting for the official announcement which should arrive, according to rumors, by Tuesday next week with the related handover. In the meantime, the coach and sporting director have been chosen. The first tile should be occupied by Salvatore Marra (in the picture). For him it is a return to Pozzuoli, having won the Eccellenza championship three years ago with the Granata with promotion to Serie D. An expert technician with a strong charisma who, in the last season, led Lamezia and Acireale in Group I of the interregional championship. Marra will be there as sporting director Natino Varrà. For him first a career as a footballer, with militancy in the ranks of Rosarnese, Cittanova and Montalto. Then the first steps as a sporting director with Locri, followed by experiences with Castrovillari. And again the move to Benevento right in the period in which the Samnites were promoted to Serie A and, finally, the experience with Potenza.
