PESCARA. Jasmine Di Felice, 29 years old, from Montesilvano, is the first professional boxing champion from Abruzzo. She took the Super Feather category tricolor on Wednesday evening in Pescara, beating the Venetian Linda Tescaroli. Ten high intensity shots for Di Felice’s fourth professional challenge. This too was victorious.
For half an hour the two athletes put on a show, setting the arena on fire around that square on which the story of a dream flowed. And it is in fact the dream of a lifetime that comes true in that unanimous victory verdict (100-90/100-90/99-91) rewarding Jasmine Di Felice together with her historic coach Simone Di Marco who raised their arms to the sky after a path of preparation fraught with difficulties.
«In the face of all the problems that her life, in sport and beyond, has presented to her, she has always believed that we could do it», said Simone Di Marco, «boxing reveals, the ring tells the truth, the result is built with two Ss: sweat and dreams.” «With three Ss», corrects the new champion, «with Simone, sweat and dreams».
A symbiotic relationship between Jasmine and her technician Simone Di Marco, made of trust and complicity. Jasmine’s biography is a best-seller, falls and obstacles difficult to overcome which even distanced her from boxing in the darkest moments, she who in the youth qualifications had already signed her boxing qualities with two national gold medals, with call-ups in the blue jersey, with the European Youth Championships, with a silver at the Italian Golden Glove tournament. At 29 years old and with a daughter of hers, she questioned herself again and Jasmine Di Felice dedicated the Super Piuma category tricolor to her daughter, little four-year-old Desirèe. The organization of the competitive evening signed by Pugilistica d’Abruzzo was impeccable: first-rate setups in the PalaElettra which welcomed over a thousand enthusiasts.
The sub-highlight matches – which saw in the ring the athletes of the Boxing of Abruzzo and the Youth Section of the Fiamme Oro of Pescara against athletes from Veneto, Emilia, Marche and Abruzzo – were enthusiastic for the quality of the boxing in the ring.
But most of all, Jasmine Di Felice thought about writing a page in the history of (professional) boxing in Abruzzo.
