Smoke bombs, music and carousels: the end of school “explodes” from Legnano to Rho
Legnanese – Rhodense– “The dance begins, give us a 60 and we’re going on holiday”. Firecrackers, smoke bombs, banners and uncorked bottles of sparkling wine. Tradition was respected. When the last bell rings, in institutions from Legnano to Rho, on Friday 7 June the party for the end of school “explodes”, literally. Goliardy, kisses, hugs, crazy scooters with street chases and videos posted on Instagram to greet the end of lessons. Roads closed to traffic and manned by local police and state police.

In the Professional Institutes of Legnano (Carlo Dell’Acqua and ITIS Bernocchi) the carousel goes crazy for the last day on the school desks among firecrackers, smoke bombs, bubbles. The school terrace is transformed into a colorful stage, illuminated by the sun’s rays, screams of joy, and the roar of scooters and motorbikes whizzing along the avenue, towards summer, towards holidays…

The Cannizzaro of Rho says goodbye to summer as early as 10am, reducing the agony of the last day of school to just a couple of hours of participation, just enough time to say goodbye and organize a bit of a party. At 10 am the gates open and the students swarm towards the holiday hours surrounded by the red of the smoke bombs, in a riot of hugs and greetings. Added to the voices are the roars of firecrackers and the petulant buzz of the students’ motorbikes parading through the streets adjacent to the institution. A colorful ball appears and bounces on the heads lined up on the sides of the road which, together with the now beach and not school looks, is the prelude and memory of the summer games.
To the Mattei, again in Rho, the party starts a few minutes before 11, not before having guaranteed a safe exit for the students accompanied by support teachers. The students chose the colors by covering the entrance, or rather the exit, of the school with smoke bombs. Among the bang of the firecrackers and the caps exploding as if they were all on the podium of the Moto GP, the classic of the classics of water guns appears. Among the looks of the students, joy, liberation, some tears and some regrets. But now it’s time to “go around the city to the end of the province along the avenues and squares to call the girls who are already waiting for us” because the Hearts with wings that Ramazzotti sang are the same as in every era and every age.
However, not for everyone, school ends today, for fifth graders the much-feared final exams arrive… But that’s another story, today, in the meantime let’s let them enjoy the party…
