According to Legislative Decree 24 June 1994, n. 408, only Italian citizens residing in a Member State of the European Union registered with AIRE, or voters temporarily domiciled in an EU Member State for study or work reasons. Italian citizens resident in the United Kingdom will be able to vote for Italy’s representatives in the European Parliament exclusively by going to the municipality where they register for elections in Italy.as expected for all Italian citizens residing in a country that is not a member of the European Union.
To this end, as indicated in Law 24 January 1979, n. 18, the Municipalities have sent Italian citizens residing in non-EU member countries who will receive from their Italian Municipality of electoral registration a postcard indicating the date of the vote, the warning that the recipient will be able to collect the electoral certificate at the competent municipal office and that the presentation of the postcard itself entitles the holder to take advantage of travel facilities to go to vote in the municipality of electoral registration. To be able to vote at the polling station it is not mandatory to present the notification postcard received.

To vote, AIRE members must show up at the polling station in the AIRE municipality of last residence with their electoral card and a valid identity document.
Those who are temporarily in the United Kingdom and are not registered with AIRE will only be able to vote by showing up at their Italian municipality of residence, with their electoral card and a valid identity document.
In case of failure to receive the notice postcard within the deadlines established by law and any requests for the issue, replacement or renewal of the electoral card, it is necessary to contact your AIRE registration municipality.
