Forza Italia’s electoral campaign ends in Reggio Calabria and its leading candidate Giusi Princi. In Piazza Duomo with the typical delay of electoral appointments, the President of the Region Roberto Occhiutoaccompanied by Matilde Siracusanoby the blue Calabrian coordinator Francesco Cannizzaro and from the ranks of those elected at various levels he welcomed the vice-president of the regional council on stage amidst traditional music, official anthems and a lot of hope.
The thoughts of the national deputy secretary Occhiuto go preliminarily to the polls: «It was one complicated electoral campaign because many Calabrians would not want to go and vote for the European elections. But I would like them to understand that it is important, because absolutely decisive things for the economy of Calabria are decided in Brussels. This is why I chose to nominate the vice president of the regional council.”
But Occhiuto gives even more meaning to tomorrow’s and the day after tomorrow’s vote by considering it in all respects «a test for the regional government».
The Calabrian coordinator Francesco Cannizzaro instead spoke about an electoral campaign in which he found great enthusiasm throughout Calabria underlining that «from outside the region they look with interest at the Calabrian model: Occhiuto proves to be a guarantee for Calabria in his leadership, but also as a leader among the national leaders of Calabria. We will give a great signal to the South», concluded an enthusiastic Cannizzaro who underlined the enthusiasm of the square and the fact that the entire party was united around a single candidate.
For his part Giusi Princi tells of a short but intense and emotionally charged electoral campaign: «There is a lot of trust and a lot of expectation for a Calabria that wants to fly to Europe to redeem our territories, to give opportunities to our young people and to the development of our land.” The vice-president of the council feels the wind in her sails and goes unbalanced, showing off confidence: «Me I will be elected because I have a party, Forza Italia, which is supporting this candidacy, but above all there are the people, there are the young people and there is trust in this project.”
