photos and videos of the red and white procession

Ancona, 7 June 2024 – “Ancona is us”. Three words, shouted at the top of your lungs. To reclaim the pride of a community. And which describe, today more than ever, the feeling of an entire city. Disappointed, yes. Hurt, again. But still standing, despite – perhaps – the hardest blow to suffer in 119 years since its foundation. Hundreds of people, from 7.30 pm today, they started to pack the center. The garrison gathered in Piazza Cavour. Then the peaceful procession began to move in the direction of the Passetto. A mission dear to everyone: save the future of Us Ancona.

Hundreds march through the center to save Ancona

Not just the Curva Nord, the beating heart of cheering. But most of all families, children and even members of the nursery, another great heritage to be protected. Along the Corso also the municipal authorities, led by the mayor Daniele Silvetti who, in the morning, had announced his presence. They are evidently aware of the impending exclusion from series C, only the ratification of Covisoc is expected on June 10th. But the Dorica supporters are eager to return to those steps at Del Conero to support the Armed Knight. Scarves, flags, red and white banners waving in the sky. Choirs and banners accompany this umpteenth, and in some ways historic, evening of joint mobilization, which saw various souls of the social fabric of Ancona on the field.

The day and the meetings

All this at the end of a hectic day, culminating in the procession. This morning, in fact, Silvetti announced that he had called for the next week the owner of Ancona Tony Tiong, directly or by proxy, in a formal manner. A move born from the outcome of the meeting with the residual part of the company, the minority shareholder Mauro Canil and the managing director Roberta Nocelli. Also at the table, in a secret location in Jesi, were councilors Giovanni Zinni, Angelo Eliantonio and Daniele Berardinelli. A useful meeting also to take stock of the club’s balance sheet, defaulting on the payment of salaries for March and April (to which those for May and June will also be added) and with some suppliers (many of whom are from Ancona). The debt, at the moment, would amount to up to two million euros. Time is an insidious opponent in a complex game. The goal is to enroll, at least, the team in Serie D: “I am communicating with the Federation to understand what the various processes are and all the possibilities that could materialize – said Silvetti –. This is the responsibility we take on, this is our role. At this moment, not only is the future of a football club at stake, the image of a city is at stake.” The mayor then met a delegation from the Curva, this time at Palazzo del Popolo, Ancona. A union of intent has emerged between the parties, provided that there will be no mergers. Either companies for sale and brands in the hands of Silvetti, or other solutions. With the ultras who, clearly, would not accept the presence of the current leaders. Then, from the mayor, a new appeal to the healthy forces of the city, entrepreneurs and associations who might be interested in avoiding yet another crash in the history of Ancona.
