PORDENONE – The three important summer events that will liven up the hottest months in the city were presented at the Municipality of Pordenone: the Pordenone Blues Festival, the Pordenone Live and the Music in Village. Speaking about it were Andrea Mizzau, Loris Tramontin and Michele Boria respectively, introduced by the municipal administration which has long supported the three great musical events, capable of attracting tens of thousands of people to the city. Consider that last year, these three large cultural centers recorded 50 thousand visitors, without considering the other events organized in the city.

This too will be a summer made up of great concerts that will be held in the green setting of Parco San Valentino and which confirm Pordenone as a stage for music and entertainment for young and old, offering legends of international rock music and new talents, much loved by kids, to meet the tastes of people of all ages, combining musical sophistication with pop initiatives.

In recent years, Pordenone has stood out for presenting a great cultural and musical offer which is supported by even greater hospitality during events, when shops and museums remain open even in the evening, during Thursdays under the Stars. Initiatives that are part of a much broader program dedicated to young people, which also includes the 3rd edition of the Young Corner, a popular contest for young musicians between 11 and 25 years old, and the brand new photographic competition “The time of a photograph” aimed at to young people aged 15 to 30 from Pordenone and its province.

But let’s go back to the three musical events of the Summer in Pordenone.

PORDENONE BLUES FESTIVAL
We start with the Pordenone Blues Festival which, from Monday 8th to Wednesday 10th July, will present concerts by extraordinary artists from all over the world in the San Valentino park for exclusive live performances. On Monday 8 July everything is ready for Rival Sons, a rock band capable of ranging from blues rock to hard rock and twice nominated for a Grammy, and Creeping Jane, a band from Brighton with an indie-rock repertoire. Placebo, one of the greatest alternative rock groups of the last twenty years, will play on Tuesday 9 July, with a special guest and DJ set by Marco Bellini. Wednesday 10 July grand finale with Alice Cooper, rock icon and father of shock rock, in Pordenone for the only Italian date of the tour, and the Nightmare Party, a thrilling evening that promises great emotions thanks to an explosion of music, horror themed shows and entertainment.

On 11 July the event arrives in the city center with Blues on the road, a format well known for years, which includes over 20 concerts and DJ sets. From 6.30pm to 11.30pm Pordenone is transformed into a sort of “French neighborhood” of New Orleans where there will be good music in every corner of the center and, as at every edition, around 10 thousand people will arrive.
At the same time, from 21 June to 21 July the Blues will dominate the city center with many other collateral events starting from the exhibition “Danny says: Danny Fields’ Ramones” which will be held at PAFF! from June 28th. The same location will also host the exhibition “Walter Bortolossi for Blues Festival”, an exhibition by the Udine artist dedicated to the world of music, with a look at current events and history. Always at PAFF! it will be possible to admire “Gli introvabili”, an extraordinary exhibition of rare records and autographs of music legends who have left an indelible mark on history. Finally, from July 21st at the Civic Library it will be the turn of “Musica degli occhi”, an exhibition of vinyl and CD covers, curated by the Covers as Quadri-APS Association. PORDENONE LIVE 2024

After the success of the previous editions, the San Valentino park will host the Pordenone Live 2024, an event that will rekindle this green setting of our city with lights, sounds and colors with a program that winks at a very young audience (with two of the most important emerging names on the Italian scene), but which also takes into account a more mature audience (with established protagonists of the national music scene).

There will be three major concerts scheduled between July and August. Opening the dance will be the rapper Mr Rain (18 July), a regional exclusive event in which the artist will present the songs from his latest album “Miller’s Planet” and all his successes, including the hit “Supereroi”, five times platinum record. It will then be the turn of Francesco Renga and Nek (20 July) in an exciting concert in which you can listen to the repertoires of the two icons of Italian pop, with songs that have moved several generations. The third appointment is with Kid Yugi (11 August), a rising star rapper on the new Italian music scene, already much loved by the public. Tickets for the Pordenone Live concerts, organized by Zenit srl, in collaboration with the Municipality of Pordenone, the FVG Region and PromoTurismo FVG, are on sale on the Ticketone circuit. MUSIC IN VILLAGE

Now in its 31st edition, Music in Village will be held from 28 to 31 August 2024 at Parco IV Novembre, starting at 7.00 pm. An essential event for music lovers! Opening this edition, the legendary The Congos (28 August), iconic Jamaican band who wrote some of the best reggae songs of all time. After their last two works Swinging Bridge and Back In The Black Ark, The Congos are back in the studio to record a new album which will be released soon. This new project will take them on tour throughout Europe, culminating in their participation in Music in Village. On August 29th it will be the turn of Sick Tamburo, one of the most significant bands on the Italian alternative scene, originally from Pordenone and with a well-known punk attitude. A performance that marks a return to the origins and will bring energy and creativity to the stage. August 30th will be dedicated to the MOD/garage scene with the only Italian date of The Prisoners, an English band formed in the early 1980s and considered among the founders of the new current of the English MOD movement. The MIV will end on August 31st with a spectacular Mod party, thanks to the participation of Gli Statuto. This year the Turin band will present a unique repertoire with historical songs dedicated to Italian football, including the iconic theme songs of programs such as Tutto il calcio massimo per minuti (A Taste of Honey), 90simo Minuto (Pancho) and Domenica Sprint (Stadium). In the setlist there will also be epic songs such as Un’estate italiana, La Leva Calcistica del ’68 and Una vita da mediano, revisited specifically for the occasion, in addition to their best-known and loved songs.

This festival, organized by the Complotto Adriatico cultural association, is a point of reference for alternative music in Pordenone. Born from the experience of the Great Conspiracy of the 80s, it has influenced dozens of local and national artists, creating a powerful alchemy of music, aggregation and socialization. The Finger Food Festival will also be present in the concert area, offering Italian and international street food and craft beers. Music in Village is supported by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, the Municipality of Pordenone, the Friuli Foundation and the Pordenone-Udine Chamber of Commerce.

This year too, in order to network associations, organisers, private and public partners, the Municipality had to carry out enormous coordination work in order to ensure Pordenone and its citizens a rich and varied musical and cultural offer. In recent years, the major events organized by the Municipality reflect the dynamism of the city, its constant desire to grow, create relationships, encouraging tourism, trade and employment.
