Teramo, From Classical to Musical concert

On Sunday 9 June, at 7.00 pm, the XXXI Concert Season – MusicalmenTe 2024 resumes organized by the “Benedetto Marcello” Association at the Madonna delle Grazie Cloister in Teramo and supported by the Ministry of Culture, Abruzzo Region, Province of Teramo, Municipality of Teramo and Tercas Foundation. This first summer event will be followed by others that will involve various locations in the Province.

On the program is the project “From Classical to Musical” proposed by the “Trio Opera Viwa”, composed of Silvia Martinelli, soprano, Fabio Taruschio, flute and Andrea Trovato, piano. A musical journey that spans the entire 19th century up to the songs of the most famous musicals of the 20th century.

The “Trio Opera Viwa” was formed in 2007 within the “Opera Viwa” Cultural Association, active in musical diffusion and in raising young people’s awareness of music, and in particular opera. Since his formation he has carried out a flourishing concert activity, both in Italy and abroad, with a repertoire that ranges from original chamber music for flute, soprano and piano to opera, from ancient music to American songs. The Trio is a frequent guest at important international events, such as the International Festival “Mellieha Nights” in Malta, the European Event 2. Adenauer Stationenweg (Germany), the “Riflessi d’Arte” Festival on Lake Como, the Brianza Classica, Rovinj Ljetni Festival (Croatia), Festival “Concert Classics L’Escala-Empúries” and Festival “Sant Pere de Rodes” (Spain), etc. In 2017, the Trio Opera Viwa CD was released, entitled “La Flûte Enchantée” for the Japanese label Da Vinci Edition, including original works for soprano, flute and piano, some of which are the first ever recordings.

Silvia Martinelli, soprano, carries out a wide artistic activity, both in the fields of opera and concerts. She studied singing with Margherita Rinaldi, later perfecting herself with Renata Scotto, Maria Chiara, Claudio Desderi and Julia Hamari. She graduated in Singing from the Conservatory of Music of Perugia, she has been awarded in numerous national and international competitions, including the “Hans Gabor Belvedere” Competition in Vienna and the Academy of Specialization of the Teatro alla Scala. You have played many leading roles in operas such as Le Nozze di Figaro and Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Britten’s The Turn of The Screw, Verdi’s Rigoletto and La Traviata, etc. In 2014 she toured Bulgaria, Holland, Belgium and Luxembourg, playing the role of Musetta in Bohéme in important venues such as the Plovdiv State Opera, the Carré Theater in Amsterdam, the Stadsschouwburg in Haarlem, the Capitol Theater in Ghent, etc. . A versatile artist, she is also involved in the symphonic, chamber and lieder fields, performing in prestigious venues in Italy and abroad (Germany, Spain, Belgium, Greece, USA, Canada, etc.). She records for the Tactus record company.
Fabio Taruschio graduated in flute with full marks from the “L. Cherubini” in Florence under the guidance of Maestro Pier Luigi Mencarelli. He attended numerous masterclasses with important teachers such as Gazzelloni, Ancillotti, Tassinari and studied the Alexander technique for the flute with Maestro Conrad Klemm. He has performed at prestigious Italian venues including: Palazzo Pitti in Florence, University for Foreigners of Perugia, Società dei Concerti in Milan, Salone Principe in Caserta, Dino Ciani in Stresa, Sala Mozart in Bologna, Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto . In 1989 he was eligible for the selection for the Rome opera house. Winner of important national and international competitions, he has held concerts in France, Switzerland (Geneva Music Academy), Spain, Germany, the United States (New York and Boston), South America. He has numerous recordings to his credit for RAI and Mediaset. He plays on Brannen & Cooper flutes.
Andrea Trovato, pianist and organist, conducts a brilliant concert activity in Italy and abroad. Active both as a soloist and in chamber ensembles, he has also collaborated with important institutions such as the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and the Teatro Lirico “G. Verdi” of Trieste. He was named Steinway Artist, by the prestigious piano factory Steinway & Sons.
He graduated in Piano and Organ and Organ Composition at the “L. Cherubini” in Florence, then perfecting his skills at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, in the class of Sergio Perticaroli. He was the winner of numerous First Prizes in prestigious national and international competitions, including the TIM of Rome (Piano and Organ), the “Città di Albenga”, the “G. Benassi” of Pavia, the “Debussy Prize” of the International Competitions of Stresa, etc. He is frequently invited by prestigious concert associations, including Bocconi University, Società dei Concerti e Società Umanitaria di Milano, Columbia University, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Roosevelt University, Notre Dame University, South Florida University (USA), Heidelberger Klavierwoche (Germany), Temps Fort Musique and Accueil Musical (France), Polyphonia Atheneaum (Greece), etc. He records for Dynamic, Tactus, Concerto Classics, KNS Classical, Da Vinci Classics. The CD with Galuppi’s Organ Sonatas was recently released for Fluente Records which received unanimous acclaim.
He is Principal Piano Teacher at the State Conservatory of Music “L. Cherubini” in Florence.
