Controversy and dismay arose among the citizens of Pozzuoli regarding the notice Municipality of Pozzuoli which urgently underlines the obligation to secure the buildings clearedpaid by the owners of the properties, even non-residents Pozzuoli.
This is the notice of Municipality of Pozzuoli: “The eviction and safety orders were notified to the residents of the unusable properties, in order to proceed with the evictions urgently, in an emergency situation which gave the mayor extraordinary powers as a Civil Protection authority.
With reference to the safety obligation, incumbent on the owners of the aforementioned properties, including non-residents, it must be acknowledged that, having published the ordinances on the notice board, the municipality of Pozzuoli has fulfilled the obligation of publication, and the same have effects on the aforementioned owners with the related obligation to make them safe, even without further notification”.
But the citizens are not on board and complain about the administration’s lack of closeness and the absence of “tact” towards the drama that the displaced people are experiencing. “Notice to citizens, the problem is yours, make your own way. This is how the institutions are close to the population”, comments a citizen.
“The earthquake is an unpredictable event, which is not due to the carelessness of the owners. Safety measures are mandatory for them when problems arise in normal conditions, not due to an earthquake, what a shame”, adds another.
The criticism also comes from the minority councilor of Pozzuoli Marzia del Vaglio: “Things not to do if you are the highest security authority of a city: making a post like this in a moment of extreme difficulty for citizens. Isn’t it a good idea to use silk gloves? There is total confusion on the notice board of the Municipality of Pozzuoli. The Mayor calls for normality, but in the Municipality and on the streets we are still in an emergency phase.”
