Illness at the Ponte di Legno market: Antonio Tira, a 39-year-old street vendor, dies

There is a lot of sadness, in Berzo Demo as in the entire upper Valcamonica, for the sudden disappearance of Antonio Tira, 39 year old young father missed today at the Civile in Brescia. Like every morning, Antonio left home early to attend one of the Camunian markets, where he opened his stall selling household items.

Today he was in Ponte di Legno when, shortly after ten o’clock, he felt ill, collapsed and no longer responded. The Ponte Volunteers ambulance and the air ambulance from Bolzano took to Piazzale Cida, which picked up the man and took him to the city. In hospital, despite attempts to save his life, Antonio’s heart unfortunately gave out.

For him, full of life, joy and with a big heart, they were started procedures for organ procurement, in a great gesture of love and generosity from the family. The news of Antonio’s passing has thrown many valley communities into despair, where he was known for his activity and for his many friends.

In Berzo Demo it is the second episode, in a month and a half, of the disappearance of a young man due to a sudden illness: 46-year-old Ivan Toloni passed away on April 13th. Antonio Tira leaves behind his partner Verilde, his 1-year-old daughter, his sister Chiara and his mother Madda.
