discontent is growing among employees

“In recent months, the Municipality of Taranto has been the scene of growing discontent among employees, worried about the deterioration of their working, salary and professional conditions”. This is what we learn from the note from Fabio Ligonzo, company secretary of the CISL FP, the union representing the workers.

“The economic crisis and job insecurity are pushing employees to compete with each other, fueling a toxic climate of rivalry. The scarcity of resources and the lack of an inclusive corporate welfare policy have exacerbated the situation”, explains Ligonzo.

Despite repeated interventions by the CISL FP to reverse this trend, no concrete responses have been received from the administration. “This is a clash between the poor,” continues Ligonzo, underlining the urgency of an intervention to prevent employees from being forced to fight among themselves to survive.

“In the educational sector, the dispute remains open while waiting to define the new school calendar for municipal nursery schools. The tax staff, despite having worked overtime, will not receive fair compensation for the extra hours. The reorganization of the Departments has fragmented the services, creating inconvenience for workers and hindering the efficiency of the service. An example is that of Social Services, where staff are forced to constantly move between different locations. The Municipal Attorney’s Office was located far from the judicial offices, complicating the lawyers’ work. Even the staff of the district offices are forced to migrate from one office to another due to shortage of staff,” underlines the company secretary of CISL FP.

“Professional training is provided to only a select few, limiting growth and development opportunities for all employees. Horizontal and vertical economic progressions, mandatory by law, are blocked, creating a climate of demotivation. Even the adaptation of the regulation for the distribution of incentives for technical functions, in compliance with Legislative Decree 36/2023, has not yet been achieved”, adds Ligonzo

“The union asks the administration to intervene urgently to resolve these problems and re-establish a climate of serenity and trust among workers, who seem excluded from the “Taranto Ecosystem” project. Only with concrete commitment and constructive dialogue will it be possible to guarantee an efficient and quality public service for the citizens of Taranto. In the absence of adequate responses, the CISL FP threatens to start a mobilization of the entire staff to assert workers’ rights”, concludes Fabio Ligonzo.
