Active in Parma onBicycle registry, useful tool for identifying lost or stolen bikes.

The system is aimed at increasing the level of security against possible theft of bicycles and to facilitate their discovery by the police quickly and with the possibility of having the data relating to the owner at hand.

The data introduced into the registry will allow the police (local police, carabinieri, traffic police) to identify with certainty and immediacy the owners of bicycles found or reported stolen.

In fact, bikes, unlike motorcycles, are not equipped with a license plate and the new register makes up for this lack with a real digital identity card for the vehicle.

The registration of the bicycle must be done through one of the following options: by scanning the QR-Code or by entering the website by identifying with Spid/Cie; ask the shopkeeper from whom you purchased the bicycle to register it in the registry office; only if you are a Fiab Parma member, fill in the form at the link: https://forms.gle/dzvkpv4dsCGjos2Q6

The bicycle registry was promoted by the Municipality of Parma with the involvement of Infomobility, ItCity, local police and Fiab Parma Bicinsieme.

The initiative was presented this morning in the spaces of the station’s cycle shop by the councilor for Legality Francesco De Vanna, the councilor for Environmental Sustainability Gianluca Borghi and the president of Fiab Parma Bicinsieme Aps, Andrea Mozzarelli. Representatives of Infomobility Spa, ItCity and the Local Police with Commissioner Fabio Bergamaschi participated with them.

De Vanna: “It is an additional tool to support gentle and sustainable mobility that allows cyclists to have an extra element of safety compared to their own bicycle. Thanks to the Mobility sector of the Municipality, Fiab, Infomobility, ItCity and Local Police, we have activated the Bicycle Registry which will allow you to enter the fundamental data relating to each individual bike and, in the event of theft, to recover the information and make it easier the recovery of the bicycle itself”.

Borghi underlined the usefulness of an innovative and useful tool for those who use bicycles: “the Administration is increasingly attentive, present and active to respond to the needs of those who use bicycles in Parma”.

Mozzarelli: “As Fiab, we proposed the bicycle registry project in order to provide a tool to combat bike theft, allowing users to recover their vehicle much more easily than in the past. This is one of the tools to combat the theft of bicycles together with the secure racks to which the frame can be attached, the presence of depots in the city, together with the education of citizens on how to prevent theft also through training in schools”.
