“The popular neighborhoods of the city of Aversa are, due to their social fragility, the most exposed to illicit electoral pressure and illegal conditioning. In these hours it is necessary to monitor possible non-legal behavior of candidates”. The centre-left mayoral candidate in Aversa raised the alarm Mauro Baldascino, which gives an account of the investigations underway by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Naples North and the police, following complaints, regarding an alleged trafficking of electoral cards by candidates who have already been heard by the Finance Department, and of episodes of “buying and selling” of votes within public housing. “These are facts, if true, of enormous gravity, which signal possible attempts to massively pollute the electoral competition. For this reason we ask the Prefect, the Police Commissioner, all the police forces and all the institutions – this is Baldascino’s appeal – to guarantee the regular and democratic conduct of the elections, in particular, as has already happened in the past, to supervise the outside the polling stations so that there are no people who stop and talk to voters in the free exercise of the vote, guaranteeing a strengthened security presence adequate to the serious alarm that the press reports raise”.
