The triduum of the feast of Saint Anthony of Padua in Comiso ended yesterday evening in the parish, with the solemn Eucharistic celebration on the 32nd anniversary of the priesthood of the parish priest, Don Enzo Barrano, and with the preaching of Msgr. Carlo Rocchetta, one of the leading experts in family pastoral care. Immediately afterwards, the last part of the spiritual exercises on the theme of tenderness was held.
The party for the children of the parish who celebrated the final part of the catechistic year was also very entertaining. It all started with a moment of songs and prayers of thanks to the Lord for the year spent together. At the end of this journey, each boy was given a shell with a verse from the Gospel.
A highly symbolic gesture to signify that by holding the shell to the ear the echo of the Word of Jesus heard in catechism meetings and at mass will be remembered. Immediately afterwards, in the churchyard and in the garden, team games and Nutella party, as well as the inevitable souvenir photo. In short, good moments spent together. Today, meanwhile, the solemnity of the Sacred Heart, at 8 pm there will be the city Eucharistic concelebration at the parish of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Then, tomorrow, at 8 am the recitation of the Rosary and the thirteenth to Saint Anthony, at 8.30 the holy mass and at 6pm the recitation of the meditated Rosary and the thirteenth to Sant’Antonio. In the evening, at 7pm, there will be the Eucharistic celebration. The celebrations continue on Sunday 9 June with the Rosary and the Mass at 8.30 am, followed by the Holy Mass at 9 am. At 10am there will be a Sicilian cart parade through the streets of the neighborhood to collect the gifts that will be auctioned off for the traditional dinner in honor of Saint Anthony. At 6pm the recitation of the meditated Rosary and the thirteenth hour to Sant’Antonio. At 7pm the Eucharistic celebration and at 8pm the blessing of the gifts of the “Supper” of Saint Anthony and the start of the auction. It should be remembered that the ecological company Busso Sebastiano is carrying out an extraordinary cleaning action all around the parish affected by the festive celebrations where, in these days, a large influx of faithful is expected.
