Antonino Rocca appointed new general secretary of Fit Toscana

Antonino Rocca was unanimously elected the new general secretary of the Fit Tuscanythe transport workers union affiliated with Cisl. The appointment took place during Fit regional general council, which met yesterday in Montecatini Terme. Rocca takes over Franco Fratiniwho left office after reaching the age limit.

To support Rocca in regional secretariat they will be Francesco Chiaravallidesignated deputy general secretary, and the members Paolo Panchetti, Angela Settembrini And Giovanni Giannini. They also took part in the meeting Salvatore Pellecchianational general secretary of Fit, e Mattia Pirulliregent of the CISL Tuscany.

Rocca, a 50-year-old railway worker with over two decades of union experience within the Fit-Cisl, recently held the role of regional coordinator of railway workers and was a member of the regional FIT secretariat. In his inaugural speech, Rocca underlined the importance of the union’s daily work: “We are always close to the workers, ready to protect and guarantee the rights of all those who work in the vast transport sector. Fit-Cisl Toscana has always paid great attention to safety in the workplace and we will continue to give priority to this aspect to prevent any type of injury. Fit Toscana is made up of an excellent team that we intend to further grow in quality and skills.”

In his speech, Rocca also expressed gratitude to Franco Fratini “for the excellent work done to date and for being a pillar of our organization”.
