MARTINSICURO. Access to the “Tronto River” path has been cordoned off for the start of construction work on the section of cycle/pedestrian path that will connect the Europa seafront in Martinsicuro to the access to the future bridge over the Tronto river. The track should run alongside the embankment on the Abruzzo side for a few hundred metres, following the existing path up to what will be the entrance to the cycle-pedestrian bridge. Connection works will also be carried out on the last section of the cycle path that is missing, the one that goes from the roundabout in the northern area of the town to the entrance to the “Tronto River”: in this case work will be done on asphalt and the cycle/pedestrian path will run alongside the wall along the last stretch of the river. It has been decided that the vehicles carrying the material for the construction of the bridge will pass along Via Piave up to the river bank without affecting the route of the path.
«The bridge over the Tronto is becoming more and more a reality», the mayor’s words Massimo Vagnoni after the meeting held yesterday with all the bodies interested in carrying out the work, «by the end of June or beginning of July the works will be awarded to the company that won the contract. A timetable will therefore be drawn up and work could begin as early as July. Our administration has achieved another important objective with the construction of the bridge, a work that our citizens have been waiting for for a long time and which will bring benefits above all to tourism and cycling.”
