The workers of the Cooperativa Muratori di Soliera no longer work. For several weeks, CGIL informs, 11 workers and 7 employees have been on a reduced working regime without any prospect of recovery. The Cooperativa Muratori di Soliera, a historic construction cooperative in the Modena area with over 100 years of history, which today employs 18 workers, is no longer able to manage the construction sites in which it was engaged. Financial and liquidity difficulties, due to the upward rebound in material prices in the last two years, seem to be the reason for the crisis, repeated along the corridors and in the now former construction sites of the cooperative by the members. These are indiscretions, underlines a note from the union, “…as the leaders of the cooperative have become increasingly impervious and a real discussion with the union on the crisis situation has never taken place”. follows
Fillea Cgil, Filca Cisl and Feneal Uil are worried and disappointed, the press release underlines, by the fact that the cooperative has not found a useful channel for discussion in dialogue, closed in its meetings, with silent managers and member-workers. Only now, the negative budget data and the financial situation, which have never found an outlet in an open discussion, emerge in all their criticality. An institutional crisis table is the unions’ request to manage the situation and bring to light the reasons for the crisis and the possible solutions. If there is a crisis social safety nets are needed and the prospects must be discussed in public, the cooperative is democracy and must respond to the community that hosts it in a transparent and courageous way. The crisis can have effects on production continuity, on employment and on the territory, which is why the unions ask the institutions to take an active part in addressing the situation. “Unfortunately for everyone – concludes the CGIL note – the new tenant of Castello Campori will start from the Sala dei Cesari with an already complicated agenda”.
