Visit of the Mayor of Capannori and President of the Province of Lucca, Luca Menesini, to the headquarters of Amore e Vita – Ciclismoblog.it

Yesterday afternoon, with great emotion and satisfaction, we had the honor of hosting the current Mayor of Capannori and President of the Province of Lucca, Luca Menesini, at the Amore e Vita headquarters. The Mayor was welcomed by Patron Ivano Fanini, to whom Menesini conferred the honorific position of Ambassador to the world of the Municipality of Capannori a few months ago.

Although Mayor Menesini had already been to the headquarters of Amore e Vita and the Fanini Museum several times, he wanted to visit us again following the Loyalty to Sport Award event, held last Monday 3 June. The evening, organized with skill and impeccability by the famous journalist Valter Nieri, saw the award ceremony of great champions of world sport such as Vincenzo Nibali, Alessandro Petacchi, Franco Causio, Sergio Brio, Ivano Bordon and Marco Landucci and many others from different disciplines.

On that occasion, President Menesini had the honor of awarding the prestigious “Golden Sphinx” to the cyclist Claudio Golinelli, the athlete with the greatest number of “world” victories in the history of cycling belonging to the only team professional club that has never existed in the Capannori and Lucca area. Golinelli won three World Track Championships, in the Keirin specialty in Ghent in 1988 and in the Speed and Keirin specialties in Lyon in 1989.

Visibly enthusiastic, Menesini expressed his pleasure in having been able to reward a champion of Golinelli’s caliber. Precisely for this reason, he wanted to visit the Fanini Museum – Love and Life to delve deeper and “touch” the history and athletic exploits of the former world champion, discovered and launched by Ivano Fanini. During the visit, Menesini was able to admire the images, Golinelli’s rainbow jersey and the numerous trophies won, now on display in the museum. He deeply appreciated the story of this champion, the only Italian athlete in history to have won three world track titles in these specific disciplines.

Accompanying the Mayor Menesini on this “tour of memories”, in addition to Ivano Fanini, his son Cristian was also invariably present.

Amore e Vita confirms itself once again as a place of memory and celebration of sporting excellence, and we are honored to have shared this significant moment with the Mayor and President Luca Menesini.
