A hacker attack it struck during the night between Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th June the Asst Rhodensewhich includes the hospitals of Garbagnate, Bollate and Rho. As can be read in the note published by the healthcare company, non-urgent surgical interventions have been postponed as have other scheduled healthcare services. The emergency rooms of Garbagnate and Rho remain active, with only one dispatch of ambulances which has been suspended. However, the health management advises citizens to turn to other facilities. An emergency response team of the National Cybersecurity Agency is arriving on site to understand the extent of the problem and seek a solution.

The first problems have been registered on the night between Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th June. The most likely hypothesis is that it was a ransomware-type attack, which is usually followed by a ransom demand for any stolen data. It is not clear, however, whether it has already arrived. “We are taking action as is done in these cases, also through the regional task force”, assured the general director of the Asst, Marco Bosioto theAdnkronos: “We are guaranteeing essential services in urgency in paper mode because i information systems are not available, they are blocked“.

As for surgical interventions, urgent ones are guaranteed while scheduled ones “are temporarily suspended”. The disbursement of the outpatient services already scheduled, except those of nuclear medicine, radiology and laboratory analysis, including blood tests. A team of specialists is expected on site to verify the level of compromise caused by the attack and to delete the launched ransomware. “It is currently not possible to estimate the recovery times of the company network”, explains Asst Rhodense in a note, “everyone’s collaboration is requestedespecially in these first moments of reorganization of activities”.
