Ati reports that activities are underway to expand the water supply

The water emergency that has arisen again in recent weeks is not failing to create evident inconveniences around the city. The neighborhood committees have called for an exemption from paying bills, at least until there is an efficient distribution. They insist on meeting the references of Ati and Caltaqua. However, the meeting that had been called today on the initiative of the municipal administration was not held. Mayor Lucio Greco withdrew due to sudden unavailability. “The citizens are right – says Ati president Massimiliano Conti – however, the responsibility is not ours. Unfortunately, if the bills arrive it means that there has been water consumption. We are working to double the capacity of the Pantanelli wells, with a first step in sixty days and the second in one hundred and twenty days. A third well will also be evaluated. Furthermore, we are focused on the Bubonia spring. Our objective remains self-sufficiency without having to depend on Siciliacque and the supplies of the Madonie”. Conti confirms that the current situation is however the result of what was missing in the past and of a water emergency that affects the entire island. “There is a Sicilian emergency that also suffers from the disorganization of many bodies and many factors, certainly not ours though”, concludes the president of the Territorial Water Assembly. On this front, the new municipal administration will not be able to avoid taking a position, amidst continuous water problems.
