The second edition of the Ciclostorica Epica Vanvitelliana, third stage of the Giro delle Regioni, will be staged on Sunday 9 June. Event that attracts and brings together cyclists from various parts of Italy who, with vintage bicycles and period clothing, will cross the streets of the province of Caserta and Benevento, following ancient routes also made up of dirt roads that will lead cyclists to admire and discover the scenic and monumental beauties of our territory.

The President of the Velo Club Caserta Mariagrazia Ammirati together with the entire organizing committee and the Proloco of Casertavecchia, Caserta, San Leucio, Vaccheria Caiazzo, Sant’Agata de Goti and Valle di Maddaloni is working intensely so that the over 150 participants can be welcomed in the best ways, making them discover and taste the products of our territory along the entire route.

The creator of the event Arturo Bernardo explains that the reason that drives the organizing machine is to want to create something different, in an area capable of attracting widespread cycling tourism, also capable of hosting major cycling events. The aim of the historical cycle is to bring cycling closer to the people by bringing people back on bicycles and in this way keeping these lands alive”.

A cycling that starts from steel bikes, wool jerseys, dirt roads, which wants to try to infect that other world, that of the frenetic pace of exasperation to competitive performance in the amateur world. Creating a different way of cycling, made up of aggregation, conviviality where the values ​​of friendship and solidarity prevail over everything else.

The Municipal Bodies involved, primarily the Municipality of Caserta, which supports the event as a Partner, and the Municipalities of Piana di Monteverna, Caiazzo, Castelcampagnano Amorosi, Santagata de Goti, Valle di Maddaloni, believe in the possibility of finding a different development of these areas, made up of slow and eco-sustainable tourism which leads to the profound discovery of even small local realities.

The departure at 8.30 from the cathedral square of Casertavecchia, there are two routes, the first of 60 km for the less experienced and the other of 90 km, after the start, direction Reggia di Caserta and follow the Belvedere of San Leucio, the first kilometers will be a total immersion in the UNESCO sites of the city of Caserta, after the stop at the Belvedere welcomed by the proloco of San Leucio, the epics will reach the historic center of Caiazzo, along the white road of the faggianeria. After a short refreshment in Caiazzo, those who choose to follow the Lungo route will follow the road of San Giovanni e Paolo which will cross the beautiful landscape of the Caiatine hills, towards the village of Sant’Agata de Goti, crossing the municipalities of Castel Campagnano and Amorosi, Twogenta. After a brief refreshment in Sant’Agata de Goti, we will follow the ancient Vanvitelli water path on Monte Longano to then arrive at the legendary Carolino Aqueduct. The intrepid cyclists will travel along the summit part and then head towards the finish line in Casertavecchia, passing through the foothill hamlets of Caserta, Garzano, Tuoro, Santa Barbara and Casolla. A total immersion along a route that unfolds among the scenic, monumental and food and wine beauties of the working area, an additional opportunity to spread culture and sport made of aggregation and authenticity.
