Two Air Force soldiers, Riccardo Latino and Francesco Antonio Guglielmucci, died and four others were injured in the collision between two cars that occurred outside the Grosseto military airport, on the Strada del Pollino. The Air Force itself makes this known. The injured soldiers were on board one of the two vehicles involved and were immediately rescued and transported to nearby area hospitals. The circumstances of the accident are not known at the moment.

The people involved in the accident are all Air Force soldiers, on a mission to the Grosseto base for training activities being carried out in recent days. Personnel from the IV Wing immediately intervened on site to support the police and rescue teams.

The Chief of Staff of the Air Force, General of the Air Squadron Luca Goretti, on behalf of all the personnel of the Armed Forces, joins ”in pain and condolences to the families of the two deceased soldiers, both serving in the 36th Fighter Wing of Gioia del Colle, this morning following a serious road accident which occurred on the state road near the military airport of Grosseto, home of the fourth Fighter Wing”.

Defense Minister Guido Crosetto also expressed, “on behalf of myself and the entire Defense family, his deepest condolences to the families” of the victims. “I express my deepest condolences to Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, Chief of Staff of the Defense, and to Air Force General Luca Goretti, Chief of Staff of the Air Force. I extend my heartfelt sympathy to the entire Defense Force, to the family members and to the dearest affections of Riccardo and Francesco Antonio”, concludes Crosetto.
