Over 13.6 million for local public transport (in particular the “Salta su” project), 500,000 euros for damage from hail and tornadoes, 1.3 million for transfers to the Provinces for redevelopment, modernization and development of the road network, 5 million for transfers to Atersir for the implementation of the environmental action plan for a sustainable future. Over 8 million to support the rent and 10 million for the flooded areas in May 2023 for the hiring of personnel involved in reconstruction.
Green disk of Territory and Environment commission of the Legislative Assembly of Emilia-Romagna to the first change to the Region’s Budget, the maneuver which alone is worth 100 million regional euros largely destined for healthcare and welfare.
“Although the largest item of the budget measures concerns the social and healthcare system, resources have also been allocated for other investments, starting with those relating to transport, care of the territory and the reimbursement of those who have suffered damage due to bad weather. It especially highlights funds for rental policies and for flooded areas. I remember that the State has eliminated the funds for the rent which for Emilia-Romagna was worth 20 million euros, resources which today no longer exist although the 2023 budget asks the Regions to contribute with their own resources to support the public debt: in 2024 the Emilia-Romagna Region will have to transfer 40 million euros to the central State”, explains the majority speaker and exponent of the Democratic party.
For the minority speaker and representative of the League, however, “we must avoid politicizing the proposed change given that the majority always says that there are no state resources for healthcare, but then the numbers tell a different story: the transfers from Rome are arriving. We want to understand whether the additional resources, many of which are the result of transfers from the State, will be used to increase services for citizens or how they will be used”.
With the vote of the Territory commission, four commissions have already expressed a favorable opinion on the change to the 2024 budget. The measure, in fact, was presented during the Budget commission to then be approved by Culture, Statute and Equality commissions. In the next few days the maneuver will also be discussed by the Economic Policy and Health Policy commissions and will then arrive in the Legislative Assembly for the final discussion and vote.
The budget change has already received the support of trade unions and businesses who were guests of the Budget Commission: in their opinion they were favorable to the measure, especially with regards to the additional resources to deal with the salary increase expected for social and health workers.
