Heated confrontation between Marco Dalbosco, head teacher of the “G. Ferraris” state high school, and the Province of Taranto. At the center of the dispute is the request for more classrooms to accommodate the increase in enrollments.

The Province of Taranto, represented by Pantaleo De Finis, manager of the School Building sector, “has always tried to find adequate solutions to the needs of the high school, despite the directives of the Ministry of Education. However, Dalbosco has systematically ignored the criterion that the maximum number of registrations must be proportionate to the available resources, both in terms of staff and space”, reads a note from the Province of Taranto.

On the morning of Monday 4 June, a meeting was held between Dalbosco, De Finis and the chief of staff of the Province, Steffensen. During the meeting, “the provincial representatives reassured the school director that a memorandum of understanding is being formalized with the Municipality for the transfer of responsibilities of the building currently occupied by the “Acanfora” nursery and primary school. This agreement will make it possible to have numerous classrooms, which will be assigned to the various local institutes according to priority criteria and number of students”, underlines the Province in the note.

“I reiterate the importance of the note from the Ministry of Education regarding ‘surplus enrolments’. I thank the technical offices of the Province for the continuous coordination work of the schools in the area. Finally, I invite the head teacher of the Ferraris High School to use tones more conciliatory and to recognize the onerous management task of the Provincial Authority”, added Rinaldo Melucci, president of the Province of Taranto.
