The professional qualification course for AIS Sommeliers organized in Brindisi ended with a double event. A look at the present, but also at the future in a territory that in a few days will be at the center of the world showcase by hosting the official G7 dinner on June 13th. Inside the compass room of the Hotel Nettuno, the last lesson was conducted by Giuseppe Baldassarre, AIS Italia national councilor, speaker of the highest professional profile and great ambassador of Puglia wine at a national and international level.

Official ceremony and 11th edition of the “Winemaker & Sommelier” event at the Hotel Nettuno with the delivery of certificates of attendance to all participants who, with commitment, passion and great enthusiasm, completed the first level Sommelier course, including food and wine entrepreneurs Brindisi, lawyers, doctors, accounting engineers, company managers, oenologists, university students, public employees, teachers and enthusiasts.

During the evening there was an institutional greeting from the Councilor for Agriculture and Territorial Marketing of the Municipality of Brindisi, Luciano Loiacono. «An initiative of meeting and discussion between some Apulian producers and aspiring Sommeliers to raise awareness – explains Ais Brindisi delegate Rocco Caliandro – of the identity card of those who work behind a bottle, a glass of wine». The Apulian delegate thanked all the wineries involved in the event: Luigi Rubino of Tenute Rubino, Sergio Pugliese for Cantine Spelonga, Angelo Varvaglione for Varvaglione Vigne&Vini, Niccolò Lorusso for Tagaro. The producers presented discussed two wines that are an expression of the company’s history, tradition and innovation. Among the promoters of the initiative is also Antonio Giaimis, former lieutenant of the Carabinieri.

All expertly combined with local gastronomic products: the dairy specialties of the Caseificio Lanzillotti of San Vito dei Normanni, the typical products and pickles of the Lillo farm of Brindisi, a first course prepared by the chef of the Hotel Nettuno and a selection of oils Evo coming from all over Italy and beyond. «AIS Brindisi Ancona once a protagonist in the name of quality wine with the dazzling spotlight on the city of Brindisi to underline its important role in food and wine development and the desire of a community – concludes Rocco Caliandro – which will soon welcome the inaugural dinner of the G7, of the Greats of the Earth”.
