Via Pietro Agosti is one of the most representative streets of the wild overbuilding of the 70s that Calvino denounced, but at the same time it is a street full of commerce, services and social life.
After over 50 years, Via Pietro Agosti, but also Via Martiri and the annexed streets that form a neighborhood that connects the center to the Borgo, deserve a new horizon.
We know that the planting of tall trees is technically impossible, because via Pietro Agosti extends over the San Romolo manhole cover. But we also have the virtuous example of many cities that have developed rows of tall trees. We are talking about trees of significant size, capable of completely changing the face and liveability of the street, often placed in large pots which are at the same time artefacts of architectural value.
It is this project that my team and I are looking at with interest and it is one of the issues that we will address immediately at Palazzo Bellevue with the technicians in charge, also with a view to using part of the administrative surplus left by the outgoing administration.
This project, however, will have to be included in a broader discussion of the total renovation of the road, with a master plan that integrates the need for parking, loading and unloading areas, the new ecological islands that we will place in the autumn and new greenery.
I believe that this project can continue with the new Piazza Eroi Sanremesi which will be created next year when the works are completed and the new Piazza del Borgo, the funds for which will arrive in the autumn thanks to the tender requested by the administration. Thus, ideally, we will have an overall redevelopment that goes from the village to the city center, involving some of the most densely populated but also most forgotten neighborhoods over the decades.
