The new edition of the ‘Special Cup’ in the Monza sports center: “An exciting day for everyone”

The activity of the ‘Special’ teams does not stop. Once the ‘official’ commitments are over, with the National Final in Tirrenia on 18-19 May, there is space for the always popular mini-tournaments which take place on the initiative of some teams. This is the case of the ‘Special Cup’, played on Saturday 1st June in the Monza sports centre, the ‘Luigi Berlusconi-Monzello’.

The event, sponsored by the FIGC-DCPS, is always organized in partnership with Intesa San Paolo: the one in Monza was the second edition in 2024, the first was held last 23 March at the ‘Unipol Domus’ in Cagliari, with many Sardinian teams of the Paralympic and Experimental Football Division.

In Brianza there were Monza Arcobaleno, Cagliari again (with its two ‘twinned’ teams, the Sardinian Una Ragione plus and Minerva Tukiki from Milan) and the Insuperabili, present with both the men’s and women’s teams . In an atmosphere of friendship and love for sport, two mini-tournaments were held, one at the Second and one at the Third Level. Both were won by the Insuperabili, while the Fair Play award was given to an athlete from the Monza Arcobaleno.

Present as a guest at the event, among others, the AC Monza footballer Gagliardini, who is also a testimonial for the Insuperabili. Adriano Galliani, deputy vice-president and managing director of the red and white club, declared: “We are very happy to have hosted the Special Cup in our sports centre. The guys from Monza Special are fantastic, they accompanied us with their joy to the stadium and to the various events throughout the season”.

Stefano Melis, Business and Media Director of Cagliari Calcio added: “It was wonderful to be able to experience a new appointment with the Special Cup. Our club has always worked to ensure that everyone can have the same conditions of access to sports” . Finally, Davide Leonardi (Insuperabili): “We are happy to have participated in the second edition of this tournament. Together with Cagliari and Monza we shared the entire FIGC-DCPS championship and today it was fantastic to see each other again on the pitch: for our athletes it is It was an emotional day.”
