Cultural promotion: Minister Sangiuliano in Abruzzo

The Minister of Culture Gennaro Sangiuliano visits Abruzzo for a tours which touched significant stages in our territory, ending in the capital, Capital of Culture 2026, where the agreement for the recovery of the San Filippo Neri municipal theater was signed. Accompanied by the president of the regional council Marco Marsilio, the minister had the opportunity to visit a region rich in history, traditions and natural beauty and, as Marsilio explained, “discuss and promote our proposals for cultural, social and economic revitalization”.

From Capistrello where Sangiuliano was welcomed by the mayor Ciciotti and representatives of other local institutions, the minister arrived in Balsorano for a visit to the Piccolomini castle accompanied by the mayor Antonella Buffone and other first citizens of the municipalities of the Roveto Valley to whom the owner of the culture he “expressed important words on a commitment to evaluate the investigation for a possible acquisition of the manor to public heritage” as declared by President Marsilio.

Pescina was the next stage of the minister’s visit to Abruzzo who in the “city of Silone and Mazzarino” had the opportunity to “explore the places that inspired Silone and to learn about local initiatives for the cultural and tourist promotion of the country”. The prime citizen Mirko Zauri welcomed the minister, representing the country which, thanks to its rich historical and cultural heritage, had reached the final for the title of Capital of Culture 2025.

From Pescina to Alba Fucens in the municipality of Massa D’Albe where the minister returned twice in three months for “an immersion in the ancient roots of the region”; a site whose potential was illustrated by the mayor Nicola Blasetti who with the minister discussed “strategies to enhance the tourist and cultural offer of the area, enhancing its natural and historical beauties”.

“The presence of the minister – added Marsilio – represents a tangible sign of the government’s attention towards Abruzzo. The support received encourages us to continue along the path of valorising and relaunching our cultural heritage”.

An important moment was the signing at Palazzo Margherita of the agreement for the assignment of the seismic improvement works of the San Filippo Neri theatre, “symbol of the cultural rebirth of the city after the devastating earthquake of 2009” added Marsilio regarding the theater currently undergoing a recovery intervention carried out thanks to the funding of 5 million euros approved by the State-Regions Conference, on the initiative of Sangiuliano himself. A minister who “makes us happy and content with his attention and dedication towards Abruzzo” concluded President Marco Marsilio.
