On Wednesday, June 5, Fipsas (Italian Federation of Sport Fishing, Underwater Activities and Finswimming), on the occasion of “World Environment Day”, will return to the water and on the beaches to propose “Pulifondali” and “Pulispiagge”: there will be 40 the localities involved from north to south of the peninsula.

Federation members will be in action to clean up portions of water, beaches and piers dramatically invaded by waste. The objective is to double the already significant numbers of last season, when 175 quintals of ghost nets, plastic, tires and ferrous materials were “fished”, which have “re-emerged” from the abyss thanks to the meticulous work of FIPSAS members, who they are also busy – with the help of over two thousand students – cleaning the beaches from dirt.

“Last year the initiative was enormously successful – explains Prof. Ugo Claudio Matteoli, president of Fipsas – which is why we must continue on this path because environmental protection is an urgent necessity, it has no colors and is necessary from North to south. We want to provide a tangible contribution and every single waste that is collected will be correctly disposed of thanks to the Municipalities involved. The increase in the number of localities involved can only make us proud of our work, it is the tangible demonstration of the civic sense that pervades all our members, who, again this year, will be on the front line for the defense of our habitat”.
Venice will be the central point of the “Pulifondali” and “Pulispiagge” 2024 initiative, which will be “accompanied” by the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security, by the General Command of the Port Authority Corps – Coast Guard and by Rai, which will guarantee 360° coverage with the management of Rai for Sustainability, TgR, Rai Italia, Rai News 24 and Rainews.it. Also supporting the initiative is Suzuki, which will make its environmentally friendly marine engines available.
