Child prostitution in Bari, two under house arrest

House arrest has been ordered for Elisabetta Manzari and Ruggiero Doronzo, the 24-year-old and the 29-year-old who ended up in prison on May 13th on charges of exploitation and prostitution of some underage girls. This was decided by the Court of Review of Bari. The two, by the Bari Prosecutor’s Office which was responsible for coordinating the investigations of the flying squad, are considered the “drivers” of the girls who were accompanied by them to appointments with clients in various structures accommodation facilities in Bari. Furthermore, according to the Prosecutor’s Office, Manzari would also have made appointments between the girls and clients. The Review thus accepted the appeals of the lawyers of Manzari and Doronzo, Nicolò Nono D’Achille and Carmine di Paola, who had requested the mitigation of the precautionary measure. However, the prison has been confirmed for Federica Devito, 25 years old, one of the “Squad girls” accused of having managed and exploited the prostitution of two 16-year-olds starting from 2021 and the obligation to reside in the municipality of Lecce has also been confirmed for the Salento lawyer Stefano Chiriatti, alleged client of two girls who at the time of the events, i.e. in 2022, were minors.
