On the same days in which Italians will go to the polls for the renewal of the European Parliament, 37 Sicilian municipalities are called to renew their administrative bodies. Eight centers will vote using the proportional system, while in the remaining 29 the seat allocation system will be by majority vote. The interested voters are 483,901. Caltanissetta and Gela, being municipalities with more than 15,000 inhabitants, if no candidate in the first round obtains 40% of the valid votes then a run-off will be held between the two most voted, which will take place on Sunday 23 June starting from 7am and until 11pm and on Monday 24 June from 7am to 3pm. If there is a perfect head-to-head tie, the oldest candidate will be elected mayor.
