No-till sowing, 24 million tender opens in Basilicata

Contribution applications to be submitted electronically by July 1st. There is also a million for custodian farmers

No-till sowing will have a “second life” in Basilicata, the agronomic technique which involves the use of machines capable of sowing directly in unworked land, occupied on the surface by crop residues in rotation, including cover crops, has been long dormant but now things could change. The objective is to improve soil fertility and its conservation through the diffusion of cultivation techniques that minimize disturbance. The transition from habitual deep tillage of the soil to non-tillage techniques makes it possible to effectively counteract soil degradation, improving its structure and resistance to erosion and compaction, as well as optimizing the use of fossil reserves and counteracting the reduction of organic substance.

The Region has opened two CSR tenders, one relating to “no-till sowing”, with a financial allocation of 24 million euros, the other concerns “keeper breeders”, with one million available. For this measure the companies beneficiaries must comply with the rules for the correct keeping of registry records and the requirements of the protection and management bodies which are responsible for certifying the number, the condition at risk, the identification of animals belonging to breeds threatened with abandonment, as well as the task of keeping the stud books and registry records updated.

In essence, this is a real opening of the terms within which the beneficiaries of the public notices “Adoption of no-till technique” and “Breeders custodians of agro biodiversity” can submit, for the 2024 campaign, the annual payment request , as confirmation of the commitments undertaken with the first year. The process is a bit cumbersome but it is still a measure to support the production sector linked to the agricultural world and animal welfare.
