The decline in loans continues in the first quarter of 2024 in the province of Rimini, after the negative trend of 2023, according to data from the Bank of Italy Bologna, processed by the Economic and Social Observatory of the Romagna Chamber of Commerce; decline in loans affecting both businesses and families.

Based on provisional data from the Bank of Italy (Economic Research Office of Bologna), in the province of Rimini, as of 31 March 2024 total loans amounted to 8,569 million euros (6.3% of Emilia-Romagna), divided as follows : 56.6% to businesses, 39.5% to families and 3.9% to other entities (financial companies, public bodies, non-profit institutions).

Compared to 31 March 2023, there was a 1.5% decrease in loans granted; in detail, loans to businesses fell by 1.4%, even if the drop only concerns small ones (-8.6%, +1.3% for medium-large ones), and those to families, again by 1 .4%; regarding loans to businesses, those to services as a whole (-4.1%) and construction (-1.7%) are decreasing while those to manufacturing are growing (+3.2%).

The rate of credit deterioration is increasing, understood as the ratio between the flow of new impaired loans in the period considered and the amount of non-impaired loans at the end of the previous period (calculated as an annual quarterly average): 2.7% in the first quarter 2024, compared to the 1.2% recorded in the first quarter of 2023.

As regards financial savings, in the province, as of 03/31/2024 the amount is 17,535 million euros (6.2% of Emilia-Romagna): 59.4% is made up of bank deposits, the remaining 40.6% from securities under custody.

Compared to 31 March 2023, there was a 2.1% decrease in deposits (10,417 million euros as of 31 March 2024), which is contrasted with the increase in investments in securities managed by collective savings investment undertakings (+10, 6%; 2,857 million euros) and, above all, investments in government bonds (+58.5%; 2,549 million euros).

In relation to the Guarantee Fund for SMEs, between January and March 2024 in the province of Rimini 307 financing operations were accepted (8.6% of the regional total) with an increase, compared to the same period of the previous year, of 7 .7% (285 operations); the overall financed amount amounts to 40 million euros while the average financed amount (per single operation) is 130 thousand euros (174 thousand euros in Emilia-Romagna, 161 thousand euros in Italy).
