Regional council gives “ok” to landscape authorization for Camionale di Bari

The Apulian regional council has approved the landscape authorization for the Strada Camionale di Bari connecting theA14 motorway and the port of Bari called “Porta del Levante road”, located in the countryside of Bari, Modugno and Bitonto. The newly built artery will allow a direct connection, without crossing inhabited areas, for heavy vehicles between the port and the new motorway toll booth in the industrial area of Bari.

Last April the city council unanimously approved an urban planning variant preparatory to the construction of the work. This is a measure aimed at starting an expropriation plan on the land where the infrastructure will be built: it will involve 43 thousand square meters on areas designated for agricultural greenery, 51 thousand square meters on areas already designated for traffic e 52 thousand square meters in Zone Asy (Industrial Development Area).

The second motorway toll booth will be located to serve the production and industrial axis of the provincial road 231 (former state road 98), of the ASI area and of the outlet to Port of Bari. We talk about a truck road because it is destined to be, for all industrial vehicles, a privileged infrastructure for accessing the industrial area of Modugno and the port of the Apulian capital. It will be eleven kilometers long and will also allow heavy vehicle traffic to flow better, benefiting the environment.

The total cost will be of 233 million euros and the work will be completed in the next few years 3 years.
