LADISPOLI – It took the thugs just a few hours to turn the sports area on the seafront in via Marina di Palo upside down. The ribbon cutting had taken place the day before in the presence of the mayor, Alessandro Grando, and a large group of municipal delegates. The pleasure of a few selfies and some athletic exercises and the idea of having achieved something useful in the name of well-being. Instead, the vandals took care of spoiling the party by having already demolished the equipment by smashing the pedals of the exercise bike. A gesture that inevitably sparked the ire of the community with dozens and dozens of citizens who commented on social media about what happened, invoking the vision of the video surveillance systems in an attempt to catch the perpetrators of the night raid. Some instead focused on the already rusty nails of other machinery used for practicing gymnastics. In short, a project that was not exactly born under the best auspices.
The structure was located in a strategic point for outdoor sports and equipped with a system for free body exercises and three stations: one for calisthenics, an exercise bike and one for the disabled. This first installation – Palazzo Falcone said in a note – was successful thanks to a public-private relationship which allowed the reduction of costs.
