In recent days the Forlì Police identified a young man afterwards a scam against a lady using the fake policeman technique, and recovered gold and precious items. Since the beginning of the year, there have been numerous arrests and reports made by the State Police to combat the phenomenon of scams committed against elderly people in Forlì.

The Flying Squad police officers intercepted a car driven by a young man who was wandering among the houses; the man had numerous previous convictions for armed robbery crimes. A detail caught the attention of the police; on the car seat there was a hat and a wig. Given the man’s precedents, the suspicions due to his presence in the city and the area of ​​the city which in the past has been exposed to the phenomenon of fraud against the elderly, the young man was taken to the police station for a search, which allowed find numerous silver ingots, gold medals and bracelets, a gold watch, a wedding ring and even a baby’s tooth.

Immediate investigations revealed that the previous day an elderly lady had reported having been scammed using the “fake accident” method. The woman told the police that while she was at home she received a phone call on her landline, to which the interlocutor, qualifying himself as belonging to the police, told her that her son was in a state of stopped due to an accident. The man added that to get his son freed he would have had to deliver money and valuables to a “lawyer” who would come to collect them. In panic and despair, the woman collected everything she had at home, including her husband’s wedding ring, rings, silver ingots, watches and a gold necklace, and even a “tooth” of her son that she lost when he was a childhanding them over to the self-styled “lawyer” who showed up at the house.

The Flying Squad investigators have seized all the valuable finds and are waiting to return them to the victim. The young man was reported for receiving stolen goods and faces up to eight years in prison. The man, resident outside the province, was also reached by anti-mafia prevention measures. In fact, the Police Commissioner has issued a ban on him from returning to Forlì for the next three years.
