31 children were the protagonists of the second edition

A total of 14 outings involving 31 children from 18 families. The second edition of the Cultural Trust in Arezzo ends with an increase in participation which testifies to the importance of the project.

The project was proposed by the Fondazione Toscana Spettacolo onlus, created with the involvement of the Municipality of Arezzo, in collaboration with the Guido d’Arezzo Foundation and the Arezzo Community Foundation, and was curated by Officine della Cultura.

For this second edition, the activities related to Cultural Foster Care, which took place from January to May 2024, involved a greater number of children and families in the area compared to the first edition of 2022/2023, in which participation was of 24 minors and 8 families. Compared to the first year, scheduled releases have also increased.

A confirmation of the validity of the intervention which aims to combat educational poverty. Taking advantage of the results obtained in the first edition, for 2024 too, particular attention was paid to the involvement of families who needed to recover the habit of enjoying cultural activities, also in relation to the long post-pandemic period.

Activated in 2022 in Arezzo thanks to the commitment of the Fondazione Toscana Spettacolo onlus, the Cultural Foster Care has the aim of mobilizing some “resource families” against educational poverty, enhancing the experience of family foster care, but declining it specifically of the use of cultural products and services. The basic idea is simple but precious: parents who usually take their children to the cinema, theatre, museum or bookshop, can also bring another child, possibly accompanied by an adult family member, who otherwise would not experience these places for different causes.

A set of shared cultural uses is thus activated, through which “resource families” and “recipient families” form an “educational pact” which makes use of overall multidimensional support promoted by local cultural bodies.

For this second edition, the contribution of the Municipality of Arezzo has been added to the resources made available by the Toscana Spettacolo Foundation, invaluable for expanding the activities.

The project is carried out in the context of the national network of Cultural Foster Care, selected by the Impresa Sociale Con i Bambini as part of the Fund to combat child educational poverty with which it started in 2020 in the cities of Naples, Rome, Modena, Bari , to which Milan and other Italian cities have been added starting from 2021.
